NAFDAC Seals Popular Abuja Eatery Over Poor Hygiene"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed an eatery, \u201cThe Place,\u201d in Wuse 2, Abuja, over inadequate Good Hygiene Practice (GHP).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The NAFDAC team also confiscated food raw materials suspected to be contaminated with rodent faeces and droppings, citing unhygienic packaging at The Place.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Mr Kenneth Azikiwe, Head of NAFDAC\u2019s FCT Directorate, stated that the enforcement team acted on a tip from a customer and an order from Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He said that the operation aimed to promote public health safety and ensured safe, quality food for Nigerian citizens.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Azikiwe emphasised that NAFDAC\u2019s mandate includes supervising manufacturing, distribution, and adherence to regulations.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He noted that all restaurants must comply with NAFDAC Food Hygiene Regulations, ensuring safe and quality food processing.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Azikiwe said that NAFDAC would penalise The Place according to its regulations, which outline penalties for poor hygiene practices.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cBefore imposing penalties, NAFDAC will assess the eatery\u2019s premises, staff, facilities, and raw material sources.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Azikiwe encouraged other FCT restaurant operators to obtain NAFDAC\u2019s food hygiene documents and certification, highlighting the agency\u2019s ongoing evaluations and potential benefits.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He urged restaurant operators in the FCT to visit NAFDAC\u2019s office or website (www.nafdac.gov.ng) for safety guidelines and information<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7304039974ymail_android_signature\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed an eatery, \u201cThe Place,\u201d in Wuse 2, Abuja, over inadequate Good Hygiene Practice (GHP).
