The House of Representatives has initiated an investigation into the rise of “one chance operations” in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a form of crime where unsuspecting passengers are robbed or harmed after boarding commercial vehicles. As part of the probe, the House has summoned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) Adeola Ajayi, and the FCT Commissioner of Police Peter Okpara.<\/p>\n
The resolution followed a motion by Rep. Ismaila Haruna during Tuesday\u2019s plenary, where he expressed concern over the growing criminal activities in the FCT. Haruna shared a personal tragedy, revealing that his aide was recently killed in a “one chance” attack. According to him, the victim boarded a vehicle near Banex Plaza in Abuja, but her body was later found abandoned near Nicon Hill.<\/p>\n
The lawmaker also highlighted the alarming rise in kidnappings within the capital. Wike, along with the heads of the DSS and police, is expected to appear before the House Committees on FCT, Police, and National Security and Intelligence to address the worsening security situation.<\/p>\n
