This call was made during a workshop in Abuja themed, <em>\u201cEmpowering Riders for Safe Delivery Journeys.\u201d<\/em> The event highlighted the need for collective efforts in minimizing road risks and promoting safer delivery operations.<\/p>\n<p>One of the key highlights of the workshop was the launch of a new high-visibility safety jacket designed specifically for couriers operating within the FCT. These jackets are intended to improve the visibility of riders, particularly during low-light conditions, thereby reducing the risk of accidents. By ensuring that couriers are easily noticeable on the roads, the initiative aims to enhance public safety and prevent road traffic mishaps.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, Weyinmi Aghadiuno, the Acting Head of Regulatory &amp; Policy Africa at Bolt, emphasized the company\u2019s commitment to safety. &#8220;At Bolt, safety is at the heart of our operations. We understand the rapid growth of the delivery sector and the responsibility it brings to ensure that every rider is well-equipped to operate safely. Today\u2019s workshop reflects our joint commitment to this goal. We acknowledge the unique challenges faced by delivery riders across the FCT and Nigeria, and we believe that through collective efforts, we can mitigate risks and promote safer practices,\u201d Aghadiuno said.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Chinedu Elechi, the Mandate Secretary for Transportation in the FCT, lauded Bolt for its proactive approach to road safety. He noted that the partnership with the FCT Administration underscores the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring safer roads for both delivery riders and the general public. &#8220;I would like to commend Bolt Nigeria for their unwavering commitment to road traffic safety and for their proactive approach in partnering with the FCT to drive these crucial initiatives. Together, we are demonstrating that safety is not an individual responsibility but a shared priority for all stakeholders involved.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Elechi further assured the public that the FCT Administration will continue to introduce and implement policies that support safer road practices and improved working conditions for delivery riders and other road users. &#8220;As we move forward, I assure you that the FCT Administration will continue to support and implement policies that enhance the welfare and safety of delivery riders and other road users alike,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop also featured several safety-focused sessions specifically designed for couriers. These sessions included detailed training on traffic laws, defensive driving strategies, and best practices for ensuring safe and responsible delivery operations.
