In a bid to accelerate the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cleaner and more affordable fuel option, NNPC Retail Limited (NRL), a subsidiary of NNPC Ltd., has engaged over 1,000 auto mechanics in a comprehensive awareness campaign.<\/p>\n

The sensitization exercise took place during the National Artisans and Technicians Conference held in Lagos, bringing together mechanics and technicians from across the country. The initiative aimed to simplify the process of converting gasoline-powered vehicles to CNG and promote sustainable energy solutions.<\/p>\n

Beyond CNG adoption, NRL used the opportunity to raise awareness about its Oleum lubricant range, which is designed to deliver top performance in both gasoline and CNG-powered vehicles.<\/p>\n

According to NRL, the initiative aligns with the company\u2019s broader mission of advancing Nigeria\u2019s transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources while keeping artisans informed about evolving trends in the automotive sector.<\/p>\n

The conference featured practical demonstrations on how to convert vehicles from gasoline to CNG, giving participants hands-on knowledge of the technical processes involved.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the session, Baba Shettima Kukawa, Executive Director of Retail Operations & Mobility at NRL, emphasized the importance of the auto industry\u2019s role in Nigeria\u2019s energy transformation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that sensitizing mechanics on the importance of CNG adoption is critical to achieving Nigeria\u2019s long-term energy goals. While this engagement focused on raising awareness, we urge artisans to actively pursue the skills required to contribute to this transformative shift toward cleaner and more affordable fuel options. This initiative represents a crucial step in advancing the nation\u2019s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future,\u201d Kukawa stated.<\/p>\n

In response, leaders of the Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN) and the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) praised NRL for its proactive approach. They also urged the company to extend the program to more mechanics nationwide, emphasizing the need for continuous efforts to support Nigeria\u2019s transition to cleaner energy solutions.<\/p>\n

In addition to the training, NRL provided participating mechanics with coveralls, toolboxes, and generators to support their operations and promote sustainability in the automotive industry.<\/p>\n
