The club also donated a newly constructed bus stop to the Phase 3 community of Kubwa, marking a significant effort to improve the area’s infrastructure.

The gestures, aligned with Rotary International’s core values, aim to enhance educational and community infrastructure for underserved areas. Rotarian Idowu Olayemi, President of the Rotary Club of Abuja, Kubwa, led the project’s inauguration, alongside other distinguished members, including District Governor Nominee, Rotarian Sikiru Owonikoko. Speaking during the event, Olayemi emphasized that the initiative reflects the Rotary Club’s steadfast commitment to transforming lives, particularly in rural and disadvantaged communities.

“The renovation of these classrooms took two months to complete, and it is a testament to our club’s dedication to improving education and ensuring a better future for children in Kungabokun. We are hopeful that the newly refurbished learning environment will foster greater academic success and inspire the next generation of leaders,” Olayemi stated.

She further highlighted that education is one of the most transformative tools available to society, noting that, despite current economic challenges, the quality of education should never be compromised. “Education is the key to empowering communities, and we believe that this development will motivate both parents and students to take education more seriously,” Olayemi added.

The club’s choice of Kungabokun for the project is not arbitrary. As an adopted community under the Rotary Club of Abuja’s outreach efforts, the intention was to contribute meaningfully to the development and well-being of the area’s residents. “This community is close to our hearts. We’ve been involved in numerous activities here, including healthcare interventions. When we learned about the poor state of the classrooms, we knew we had to act,” Olayemi explained.

In addition to the classroom renovations, the donation of a new bus stop to the Phase 3 community of Kubwa further underscores Rotary’s broader vision of improving the quality of life in local communities. “We believe that infrastructure development goes hand in hand with social progress. By building this bus stop, we hope to offer residents a safer and more comfortable waiting area for transportation, contributing to overall community well-being,” she said.

The initiative has already had a positive reception among the residents, with many expressing their appreciation for the Rotary Club’s commitment. The newly renovated classrooms are expected to provide a more conducive learning environment, allowing children to focus better and enhancing their academic performance.

Olayemi also called on the community to take ownership of the project, ensuring that the newly renovated facilities are well-maintained and cared for. “Our joy would be for the people to take pride in this project and maintain it as if they built it themselves. We all have a part to play in ensuring the longevity of this effort.”

The Rotary Club of Abuja, Kubwa has commissioned a newly renovated block of three classrooms at the LEA Primary School in Kungabokun, a rural community in Kubwa, a satellite town of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
