The latest collapse occurred on Monday, plunging many parts of the country into darkness. Although power was restored to some areas by Tuesday, residents in Nyanya, Kugbo, Mararaba, and surrounding environments urged the government to find a permanent solution to the problem.<\/p>\n<p>Jude Kabo, a resident of Nyanya, voiced his displeasure when speaking with <em>Abuja City Journal<\/em>, describing the persistent collapses as &#8220;embarrassing&#8221; and urging the government to act decisively to prevent future incidents. &#8220;The government should find a way of ending these blackouts. It&#8217;s unacceptable to have frequent grid failures in a country this large,&#8221; he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Bridget, another consumer residing in Gwarimpa, echoed similar concerns. She lamented the huge financial investments made in Nigeria&#8217;s power sector, saying, \u201cThis is not good in a country where a lot of money is spent on the power sector. We expect better service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), on its official Twitter account, confirmed the grid collapse, stating that it occurred around 6:58 p.m. on Monday. The company, however, did not provide specific reasons for the collapse but reassured customers that they were collaborating with stakeholders to restore power once the grid stabilizes.<\/p>\n<p>The repeated power outages have become a source of deep frustration for consumers across the FCT and beyond, as it continues to impact economic activities and daily life.
