{"id":52317,"date":"2024-10-16T10:06:49","date_gmt":"2024-10-16T10:06:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=52317"},"modified":"2024-10-16T10:06:49","modified_gmt":"2024-10-16T10:06:49","slug":"kebbi-launches-n7-23bn-argungu-road-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/10\/16\/kebbi-launches-n7-23bn-argungu-road-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Kebbi Launches N7.23bn Argungu Road Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Nasir Idris, the governor of Kebbi State, launched the building of a 6.4-kilometer dual highway in Argungu on Tuesday, which will cost more than N7.23 billion.<\/p>\n<p>During the flag-off event in Argungu, the governor stated that the project includes road improvements, drainage systems, and the installation of solar street lighting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is part of our commitment to fulfilling campaign promises, I am proud to announce that we have delivered 50 to 60 per cent of the promises we made to the people. We want our local government headquarters to be at par with others across the country,\u201d Idris said.<\/p>\n<p>The governor assured that the contractor had already been dispatched to the site, with 40% of the contract total paid up front.<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted that finances for the project had been set aside to avoid the possibility of abandonment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t award contracts without securing the necessary funds. We are committed to completing all projects during this administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis administration isn\u2019t just about building infrastructure,\u201d the governor noted. \u201cWe are not owing workers\u2019 salaries or gratuities, and we are paying WAEC and NECO fees for our graduating students, as well as providing scholarships for students both within and outside Nigeria,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container desktop-only margin-top margin-bottom \">\n<div class=\"ad-container-inner\">\n<p>The governor, who announced plans to begin renovating the Argungu General Hospital next week, also urged farmers in the state to adopt dry-season farming to recoup from recent flood losses.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner for Works, Abdullahi Faruq-Muslim, stated that the project was awarded to Amirco Universal Concept for N7.23 billion with a 12-month completion timeline.<\/p>\n<p>He praised the governor for choosing a respectable company for the project.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioner also mentioned the administration&#8217;s other projects, such as the dualisation of Birnin Kebbi-Ambursa Road, the completion of a multibillion-naira secretariat complex, and the creation of an ultramodern vehicle park in the state capital.<\/p>\n<p>Sama&#8217;ila Muhammadu-Mera, the Emir of Argungu, complimented the governor for putting Argungu first on the state&#8217;s development plan and supporting traditional institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The Emir awarded the governor with a silver sword, symbolizing his conferment with the customary title of &#8220;Jigon Kabi&#8221; in acknowledgment of his achievements.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Hassan Mahdi, the Managing Director of Amirco Universal Concept, told the public that the project will be completed in six months, ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Nasir Idris, the governor of Kebbi State, launched the building of a 6.4-kilometer dual highway in Argungu on Tuesday, which will cost more than N7.23 billion.
