The Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Goronyo, has announced that the Federal Government is partnering with the Cross River State Government to enhance food production and security.<\/p>\n

During a two-day familiarization tour of the Cross River Basin Development Authority (CRBDA), Minister Goronyo emphasized the need for improved food production and expressed the government’s commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.<\/p>\n

Goronyo urged the CRBDA to collaborate with stakeholders and expand irrigable lands to align with the food security agenda. He stated, “In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu…I urge the management of CRBDA to continue to collaborate with stakeholders and expand more irrigable lands to accelerate the actualization of Mr. President\u2019s Agenda to get Nigerians out of hunger and poverty.”<\/p>\n

The minister stressed the importance of performance bonds signed with the President during the cabinet retreat in Abuja, focusing on achieving results and making a positive impact in the lives of Nigerians.<\/p>\n

Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu expressed his commitment to collaborating with the federal government on food security and highlighted ongoing efforts to end open defecation in the state.<\/p>\n

Bassey Nkposong, Managing Director of CRBDA, explained the significance of the Songhai Model Integrated Farm, which includes various sections such as poultry, crops, mushrooms, fishery, and animal husbandry. He detailed the authority’s strategic plans for developing land and water resources to support the socioeconomic development of its catchment areas.<\/p>\n
