Vice-President Kashim Shettima has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the second edition of the Africa Climate Forum (ACF), scheduled to take place from October 14 to 15 in Abuja. This event, organized by the Global Centre for Law, Business and Economy (GCLBE), aims to address critical climate issues affecting the continent.<\/p>\n
Due to prior commitments, Shettima will be represented at the forum by Rukaiya el-Rufai, the special adviser to the president on the National Executive Council (NEC) and climate change. The theme of this year\u2019s forum is \u201cAfrica\u2019s Climate Future: Pathways from Dependence to Leadership.\u201d The GCLBE has emphasized that the forum will serve as a vital platform for high-level dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaborative action aimed at fostering sustainable development and enhancing climate resilience across Africa.<\/p>\n
Key topics on the agenda will include energy access, climate finance, green manufacturing, and gender inclusion in climate solutions. These discussions are particularly important in light of the ongoing global climate crisis and the need for innovative strategies to mitigate its effects.<\/p>\n
George Nwangwu, director-general of GCLBE, underscored the forum’s significance, stating, \u201cThe Africa Climate Forum 2024 comes at a crucial time when the continent must seize the opportunity to lead in sustainable development. We are excited to gather diverse stakeholders to address our shared climate challenges and drive actionable solutions that will benefit not just Africa, but the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition, Benjamin Mukoro, the forum\u2019s coordinator, highlighted the importance of building on the successes of the inaugural event held in 2023. \u201cWith the participation of key figures, we are confident that this event will catalyze significant progress in our collective climate goals,\u201d Mukoro remarked.<\/p>\n
