Justice Emeka Nwite’s absence from the Federal High Court in Abuja has delayed the ruling on a bail application submitted by Binance Holdings Limited’s detained executive, Tigran Gambaryan.<\/p>\n
Scheduled for a decision on his bail plea, the case couldn’t proceed on Wednesday, as Justice Nwite was attending a seminar at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Abuja.<\/p>\n
The ruling has now been rescheduled for October 11.<\/p>\n
EFCC\u2019s counsel, Ekele Iheanacho, had, on September 4, opposed the bail application filed by Mark Mordi on Gambaryan\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n
Iheanacho claimed that the Binance executive was receiving the best medical care from the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), alleging that Gambaryan had once refused treatment at the State House Clinic in Abuja.<\/p>\n
He pointed out the medical report from the State House Clinic to support his claims.<\/p>\n
Iheanacho argued that Gambaryan\u2019s condition was not as severe as portrayed, with the report indicating that the defendant was unhappy with the medical services provided.<\/p>\n
The EFCC lawyer urged the court to reject the new application.<\/p>\n
He mentioned that NSA Nuhu Ribadu had requested Gambaryan\u2019s medical records from NCoS management.<\/p>\n
The NSA received a response from NCoS on August 29, including a report from Nizamiye Hospital.<\/p>\n
The report suggested that Gambaryan was receiving proper medical care and was taken to various hospitals, including the State House Clinic.<\/p>\n
Iheanacho stated that NCoS could transfer Gambaryan to any hospital in Nigeria, noting that doctors couldn’t perform surgery without his approval.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Mordi had asked the court to grant his client bail on flexible terms or at least for six weeks due to health concerns.<\/p>\n
He argued that even though the EFCC claimed Gambaryan’s health wasn’t critical, the medical reports indicated he required special care.<\/p>\n
Mordi insisted that Gambaryan\u2019s health issues couldn’t be properly handled in Nigeria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
