Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, formerly of the P-Square duo, has shared his thoughts on Speed Darlington’s recent arrest for defamation.<\/p>\n
On October 9, 2024, Paul took to his Instagram story to discuss the fine line between freedom of speech and the responsible use of social media.<\/p>\n
He wrote, “Everything is fun and games until it affects you\u2026 then people will call you an oppressor because they think you have money. There’s a big difference between freedom of data and freedom of speech.”<\/p>\n
In a follow-up post, he added, “Use the internet; don\u2019t let the internet use you.”<\/p>\n
His comments came after reports surfaced about Speed Darlington\u2019s arrest for allegedly defaming fellow singer Burna Boy. Speed had previously posted a video claiming that Burna Boy was connected to American rapper Diddy, who had been arrested for serious crimes, including sex trafficking.<\/p>\n
On October 7, 2024, an SOS was posted on Speed Darlington\u2019s Instagram page, stating that he had been missing for three days, asking for help. Later, his mother released a video pleading with Burna Boy to have mercy on her son.<\/p>\n
