The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike said the era of motorists picking passengers on roads in the territory will soon be stopped .<\/p>\n
He said after completion of work on the bus terminals in designated areas in Abuja, all buses and taxis would not be allowed to operate by the roadside.<\/p>\n
Wike stated this after inspecting the ongoing bus terminal projects in Mabushi and Kugbo on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy the time we finish these bus terminal projects, we will not allow buses and taxis to either be picking passengers on the road or operating roadside motor parks,
\neverybody has to move to the various terminals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He commended the contractors for the job, noting that within three months, the contractors have been able to impress the administration.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201cI am so excited. Where we are now. This site was flagged up on July 1st this year. That was at Mabushi. And within three months, you can see what they were able to do.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe time given to them is 15 months to complete the project. But with the speed the contractor is going, we believe it will be ready before that 15 months period.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has even told us that by January, next year he will hand over this project. This Mabushi and the one at Kugbo.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe point of work you can see by yourself. If you were here when we flagged up the two projects, you would know that they have really done very, very well.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am happy that at the end of the day, residents of Abuja would see that we have changed the landscape of the area, given them a different transportation system, which they have lacked for years. So, we are very happy with what we have seen. Very, very happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
