The last may not have been heard about the convicted bank robbers in Offa, Kwara State as governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq said the case may still be revisited.<\/p>\n
Maverick politician and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had earlier been indicted in the top notch robbery that left over thirty people dead.<\/p>\n
A group in Kwara State had on Monday queried the demolition of some stalls by the governor, claiming the action has political undertone.<\/p>\n
In response, the government said the claim was sponsored and would not dissuade his government from plying the course of justice<\/p>\n
According to Kwara governor Abdhlrasaq, his government is looking at the petition by the Offa community, urging him to revisit the robbery case to ensure all that were connected with the crime are brought to book.<\/p>\n
Saraki was prominent among those that were mentioned in connection with the high profile daylight robbery.<\/p>\n
Kwara State High Court had stated that the offences are punishable by death.<\/p>\n
The incident, occurred at five banks in Offa Local Government Area in 2018 and left no fewer than 32 people dead, including nine police officers, two of whom were women.<\/p>\n
The convicted individuals include Ayoade Akinnibosun, Azeez Salahudeen, Niyi Ogundiran, Ibikunle Ogunleye, and Adeola Abraham.<\/p>\n
The sixth suspect, Michael Adikwu, a retired police officer, died in custody before the trial commenced.<\/p>\n
Justice Haleemah Salman, who presided Ober the case, handed down the death sentence to the five suspects after a six-year trial that drew widespread attention.<\/p>\n
