Demola Olarenwaju, former Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to ex-PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has accused Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), of using the Nigeria Police Force and courts to fuel tensions in Rivers State. Olarenwaju claimed that Wike is attempting to use these institutions in his dispute with Governor Sim Fubara.<\/p>\n

Olarenwaju made these accusations on Friday while responding to reports that Governor Fubara stormed the headquarters of the Rivers State Independence Electoral Commission (RSIEC) following attempts by the police to prevent Saturday’s local government elections from taking place.<\/p>\n

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Olarenwaju said: “Tinubu\u2019s Minister, Wike, is dragging the courts and the police into his political beef with his successor, Governor Sim Fubara, whom the people are with. It is a shame to him and his record as a former Governor that he wants to set his own state on fire, but Fubara is fully onground.”<\/p>\n

He further condemned Wike, alleging a collusion with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to create unrest. “Terribly sad and absolutely condemnable that Nyesom Wike, in connivance with the IGP, is fomenting trouble in Rivers. This is entirely on APC under Tinubu\u2019s watch,” Olarenwaju stated.<\/p>\n

He described the situation as a dangerous return to the days of “federal gangsterism” during early Democracy, adding, “Rivers’ people must resist” this interference.<\/p>\n
