Dr. Eunice Thomas, a former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare in Akwa Ibom State has declared that the battle line has been drawn between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, just 72 hours to the local government elections scheduled for October 5, 2024. As a Non-Executive Director on the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and chieftain of the APC, Thomas assured that voters across Ibeno local government area have been mobilized to deliver victory for the party’s chairmanship and councillorship candidates.<\/p>\n
At a campaign rally in Upenekang community, Thomas urged party faithful to unite and defeat the ruling PDP. The rally was an opportunity for stakeholders to express gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Thomas to the federal government and to acknowledge Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s efforts in uniting the party in Akwa Ibom. Thomas also led a solemn moment in honor of the late First Lady of the State, Patience Umo Eno, and prayed for her husband, Governor Umo Eno, and the entire Akwa Ibom community.<\/p>\n
Thomas highlighted her efforts in empowering women and youths through business support, vocational training, and scholarships, and called on supporters to vote for the APC chairmanship candidate, Inyang-Umar Efanga, and the party’s councillorship candidates.
