Declan Emelumba, Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy, addressed the rumors, expressing regret that some individuals\u2014whom he described as enemies of Nigeria\u2014had misinterpreted a statement from the National Refugees Commission to incite unnecessary tension and create a divide between the Igbos and other regions.<\/p>\n

Emelumba said that those spreading the false information are enemies of the state, engaging in what he termed \u201cnotorious propaganda\u201d to undermine the government. He emphasized that the rumors were an attempt to incite Ndigbo against northerners and destabilize the nation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.<\/p>\n

The commissioner questioned why security agencies had not yet apprehended those responsible for circulating a viral social media video calling on Ndi Imo to rise against other Nigerians. He warned that spreading such disinformation lays the groundwork for a potential insurrection against the Federal Government.<\/p>\n

Emelumba reiterated that the training center in Ehime Mbano is part of a regional initiative, with similar centers set up in other geopolitical zones, and that it would soon start training Imo citizens in various skills. He also stressed that at no point had the government considered bringing refugees from the North or West for training in Imo.<\/p>\n
