In a significant move to enhance transportation and mobility for Nigerian workers and students, the Federal Government has officially handed over sixty-four 100-capacity Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to organised labour and student unions.<\/p>\n
The ceremony, held at the Eagle Square in Abuja, was attended by top government officials, leaders of organised labour, and representatives of student unions.<\/p>\n
According to the Minister of Transportation, Muazu Jaji Sambo, the initiative is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to provide affordable and efficient transportation to Nigerians.<\/p>\n
“This intervention is designed to alleviate the transportation challenges faced by workers and students, while also promoting the use of cleaner energy,” Sambo stated.<\/p>\n
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the gesture, describing it as a “timely intervention” that would greatly benefit workers.<\/p>\n
“We commend the Federal Government for this laudable initiative, which demonstrates its commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerian workers,” Ajaero said.<\/p>\n
The buses, which have a 100-capacity seating arrangement, are equipped with modern amenities, including air conditioning and comfortable seating.<\/p>\n
The CNG buses are expected to operate in major cities across the country, providing an affordable and environmentally friendly transportation option for commuters.<\/p>\n
This development is seen as a significant boost to the transportation sector and a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.<\/p>\n
