The Federal Government has reiterated its dedication to improving the well-being of its retirees and providing a conducive environment for them to live decently after retirement. Mr. Dasuki Arabi, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reform (BPSR), stated this on Friday in Gombe during the 2024 Pre-Retirement Training Programme for retiring officers from selected federal parastatals in the North East Zone.<\/p>\n

Arabi emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing retirees’ lives through training initiatives and systemic reforms. He mentioned that the BPSR is organizing a national conference, likely to be chaired by President Bola Tinubu, to address pension issues and initiate further reforms aimed at benefiting retirees.<\/p>\n

The DG highlighted that the pre-retirement training for federal parastatal officers is a key program of the BPSR. The training aims to prepare retirees for a stable future and ensure their quality of life does not decline after leaving active service. Arabi noted that equipping them with knowledge and skills to achieve a sustainable retirement aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focused on improving retirees’ welfare.<\/p>\n

“The most important exercise that an employee can embark on is to prepare for retirement. Retirement, which marks another phase in a person\u2019s life, is an exercise worth planning for,” Arabi said.<\/p>\n

He noted that poor retirement experiences are often due to inadequate planning. As such, the government is providing knowledge on managing life in retirement and utilizing retirement benefits effectively.<\/p>\n
