The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that Augustine Eguavoen will continue in his role as head coach of the Super Eagles.<\/p>\n
Eguavoen took charge of the Super Eagles in an interim capacity after the NFF failed to appoint a substantive head coach in time for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.<\/p>\n
However, there were reports that Eguavoen had left the job after the Super Eagles\u2019 0-0 draw with the Amavubi of Rwanda.<\/p>\n
The 58-year-old, in temporary charge of the squad, which he had led three times previously, steered the three-time African champions to a 3-0 defeat of Benin Republic and a scoreless draw with Rwanda in Matchdays 1 and 2 earlier this month.<\/p>\n
A statement by Ademola Olajire, NFF\u2019s director of communications, on Thursday, confirmed that the federation had approved Eguavoen\u2019s continuation as head coach of the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation on Thursday approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe approval is for the Federation\u2019s Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen, to continue in his role as Head Coach of the Super Eagles.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe will lead the team in its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Libya next month,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Olajire stated that Eguavoen and the current technical crew, which also includes Fidelis Ilechukwu, Daniel Ogunmodede, Olatunji Baruwa, and Tomaz Zorec, would continue to work together.<\/p>\n
He added that they would also take charge of the Super Eagles B team for the qualifying campaign for the 2025 African Nations Championship, otherwise known as CHAN.<\/p>\n
Mr Olajire also noted that with the departure of Randy Waldrum, the executive committee approved the recommendation of the technical and development sub-committee for Justin Madugu to lead the senior national women\u2019s football team.<\/p>\n
He explained that Madugu and the remaining technical crew would take charge of the senior women\u2019s national team, the Super Falcons, pending the appointment of a substantive Head Coach.<\/p>\n
Super Falcons\u2019 next major engagement is the Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations finals, taking place in Morocco in the summer of 2025.<\/p>\n
