{"id":49845,"date":"2024-09-25T14:47:44","date_gmt":"2024-09-25T14:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=49845"},"modified":"2024-09-25T14:47:44","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T14:47:44","slug":"lagos-seals-churches-businesses-for-environmental-breaches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/09\/25\/lagos-seals-churches-businesses-for-environmental-breaches\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos Seals Churches, Businesses For Environmental Breaches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a bold initiative to combat infractions of Lagos State environmental rules, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has closed down prayer centers and business sites throughout the state.<\/p>\n<p>Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, stated this in a statement posted on X.com on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement issued by LASEPA on Wednesday, the enforcement operation is part of the agency&#8217;s continuous efforts to maintain environmental compliance and public health.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement indicated that the facilities were found guilty of violating environmental standards despite the agency&#8217;s repeated warnings.<\/p>\n<p>It said, \u201cIn a decisive step towards tackling noise pollution and other environmental violations, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency @LasepaOfficial today sealed off multiple establishments across various parts of Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe enforcement operation, which targeted locations in Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland, is part of the agency\u2019s ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with environmental laws and protect public health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong the closed establishments are Vital Products Limited, A &amp; P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Terrag Inn Apartment, Evening Class Guest House, Celestial Church of God, a printing press, Charley\u2019s Bar, and 7th Heaven Hotel &amp; Suites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese establishments were found guilty of violating environmental regulations despite several warnings from LASEPA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The announcement also disclosed that the General Manager of LASEPA delivered a harsh warning, emphasizing the agency&#8217;s commitment to environmental compliance.<\/p>\n<p>It continued, &#8220;The General Manager of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi @thetundeajayi, emphasised the agency&#8217;s zero-tolerance stance on non-compliance with environmental laws.&#8221;We will not accept noncompliance with our regulations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dr Ajayi stated that all enterprises must understand their environmental responsibility and work with the state government to create a cleaner, more sustainable Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a bold initiative to combat infractions of Lagos State environmental rules, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has closed down prayer centers and business sites throughout the state.
