The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reiterated the FCT Administration\u2019s commitment to reviewing and upgrading the Abuja Master Plan. Wike made this announcement during a meeting with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) team in Abuja on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The review, titled the “Review and Upgrading of Integrated Urban Development Master Plan for Abuja,” will be executed in collaboration with JICA. Wike assured the visiting delegation that the FCTA is fully dedicated to seeing the project through.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cFor us, be assured that it is a project that we are committed to, and we will do all we can to see that the project comes to fruition,\u201d Wike stated.<\/p>\n

He further promised that the FCTA would meet all requirements for the successful implementation of the project, ensuring a stronger collaboration with JICA to develop not only the city center but also the satellite towns and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

The Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Mr. Shehu Ahmad, highlighted the importance of revising the 45-year-old Abuja Master Plan to address contemporary challenges, including the need for infrastructure upgrades, improved water and power supply, and modern drainage systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are also looking at the need for a smart city for Abuja so that the city will be one of the top cities in the world. Urban mobility has remained a challenge, and we are feeling that they should look into those areas to enhance it,\u201d Ahmad said.<\/p>\n
