This was announced by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, during a meeting with Axiom Space representatives at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of Media and Corporate Communications for the National Space Research and Development Agency, Dr. Felix Ale, released a statement on Tuesday, highlighting the importance of space technologies. Nnaji emphasised, \u201cSpace technologies have an impact on almost all aspects of development.\u201d He pointed out that space technology has significant potential benefits for sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and weather forecasting, and added that \u201cthe space economy has the potential to create wealth and drive national development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Nnaji expressed gratitude to the Axiom Space team and stressed Nigeria\u2019s willingness to explore partnerships. \u201cWe are open to collaboration and partnership in the drive towards the effective development of our space programme,\u201d he stated, underlining the role of the space sector in the current administration&#8217;s agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Idris Saliu, Special Adviser to the President on Technology and Digital Economy, lauded Nnaji\u2019s dedication, saying, \u201cYour passion and determination towards consolidating the nation\u2019s achievements in the critical sector of Space Science and Technology is commendable.\u201d He also indicated that Axiom Space\u2019s proposals would be seriously evaluated for potential future partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Matthew Adepoju, Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency, expressed appreciation for Nnaji prioritizing the meeting despite his tight schedule, affirming, \u201cthe success of the Space Agency will no doubt help to better define and drive innovation and development in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Garvey McIntosh, Senior Director of International Government Business at Axiom Space, spoke on Nigeria\u2019s potential to become a leading space power in Africa, stating, \u201cNigeria is primed to leverage this relationship into a burgeoning space industry.\u201d He underscored the necessity for effective policy execution and investment attraction.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Uche Nnaji also met with Brock Pierce, the United Nations Special Advisor on Social and Economic Development, to discuss further opportunities for advancing Nigeria\u2019s technological landscape.
