Osakwe also blamed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited leadership, particularly Managing Director Mele Kyari, for exacerbating the fuel shortages. He criticized the NNPCL for attempting to discredit the Dangote Refinery, claiming its fuel was of substandard quality, and expressed disappointment that no disciplinary action was taken against the responsible official.<\/p>\n
Oil and gas expert Barrister Odemwige Osaro shared similar concerns, noting that Kyari’s continued leadership has led to a significant increase in petrol prices, from N145.48 per liter to nearly N1,000 since 2019. This has worsened Nigeria’s economic hardships, and Osaro emphasized that President Tinubu’s hesitation in restructuring the NNPCL has left many Nigerians questioning the administration’s commitment to solving the ongoing fuel crisis.<\/p>\n
