Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for the United States, where he will lead the Nigerian delegation to the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The high-level global event, which gathers world leaders to address pressing international issues, will run from September 24 to September 28, 2024.<\/p>\n

President Tinubu assigned the Vice President this responsibility to focus on addressing critical domestic matters, including the recent devastating floods across Nigeria. According to a statement released by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, Vice President Shettima will be representing the country at this pivotal forum.<\/p>\n

During his time at the UNGA, Shettima is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement. He will also participate in key side meetings and hold bilateral talks with leaders and representatives of other nations.<\/p>\n
