In response to the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, the World Health Organization (WHO) has donated cholera and acute malnutrition kits to the Borno State government to address the potential health risks posed by the disaster.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mary Brantuo, representing WHO Country Representative Dr. Walter Kazadi Molumbo, stated that the team visited Maiduguri to express solidarity with the government and people affected by the devastating flood. Presenting the items to Borno’s Commissioner for Health and Human Resources, Prof. Baba Mallam Gana, she emphasized the urgency of the situation, calling for immediate action.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that no single entity can address the scale of challenges alone,\u201d Brantuo noted, highlighting WHO’s commitment, in partnership with other organizations, to provide technical and material assistance to those in need.<\/p>\n

She explained that the flooding had not only displaced families but also increased the risk of diseases like cholera and worsened malnutrition among vulnerable children. The cholera kits, Brantuo said, are vital for preventing and managing potential outbreaks, while the malnutrition kits will support health workers in treating affected children.<\/p>\n
