The Kano government has announced plans to build homes for those affected by floods in the state.<\/p>\n
Sunusi Bataure, Gov. Abba Yusuf’s communications aide, issued a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Kabir-Yusuf revealed this at the weekly state Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, the governor said the gesture will help to reduce the consequences of flooding in the state.<\/p>\n
He stated that the provision of the houses would greatly assist flood victims in securing adequate housing for their families.<\/p>\n
According to him, the state administration is collaborating with the state’s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to give food and other necessities to flood victims.<\/p>\n
The governor stated that the government would also offer chairs and desks to 220,000 children in basic and post-primary schools during the first phase of the initiative.<\/p>\n
While expressing satisfaction with the seamless restart of schools for the 2024\/2025 academic year, Kabir-Yusuf promised that his administration will rehabilitate all school facilities in the state.<\/p>\n
“In line with the components of the Declaration of Emergency on Education in the state, the government will distribute free uniforms to all primary 1 pupils,” said Kabir-Yusuf in the press release.<\/p>\n
