During his visit, he announced the creation of a <em><strong>Disaster Relief Fund<\/strong><\/em> aimed at supporting Nigerians impacted by floods and other natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu stressed the need for the relief fund as climate change continues to bring unpredictable weather conditions. He also called on the private sector to contribute to the fund, with plans for a small percentage of federal allocations (FAAC) to be earmarked for disaster relief.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who accompanied the President, said the National Assembly would collaborate with the executive branch to establish the fund. Tinubu also visited the Shehu of Borno and an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, and observed the areas impacted by the disaster.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The President extended his condolences to the affected citizens of Borno, Yobe, and other states, pledging continued federal support and collaboration to help rebuild communities. He praised Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State and the Nigerian military for their quick response and evacuation efforts.
