The minister’s commendation came during a dinner held in their honor on Saturday in Abuja.

The two honorees are Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Benneth Igweh, and Assistant Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Ado Muazu. Both officers were recognized for their distinguished service while leading their respective security agencies in the FCT.

AIG Benneth Igweh, the immediate past Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, was recently promoted to oversee Zone 7, covering the FCT, Niger, and Kaduna States. Similarly, Ado Muazu, who served as the FCT State Director of the DSS, was promoted to Assistant Director-General and transferred to the National Headquarters of the service.

In his address, Minister Wike extolled the officers for their tireless efforts in combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents in the nation’s capital. He described Igweh as a relentless officer who displayed exceptional leadership and resolve in reducing criminality in the FCT. “AIG Igweh has been instrumental in curbing insecurity in the FCT, and his promotion is a testament to his hard work and dedication,” Wike stated.

Wike equally commended Muazu for his quiet yet effective leadership during his tenure, describing him as a committed officer who worked diligently behind the scenes to strengthen intelligence operations and enhance security in the region. “Muazu may not be one for the limelight, but his commitment to duty speaks volumes. He has been a steady hand in ensuring the safety of our people,” Wike added.

The minister underscored the importance of recognizing individuals for their contributions while they are still alive, emphasizing that such recognition boosts morale and encourages others to follow their example. “These men have worked tirelessly to ensure we sleep peacefully at night. It is only fitting that we honor them for their service,” he said.

In a gesture of appreciation, Wike announced that the FCT Administration would present each officer with a brand-new Prado Jeep to aid their logistical needs in their new positions. He instructed the Chief of Staff to facilitate the immediate delivery of the vehicles, ensuring that the officers receive the tools they need to continue their exemplary service.

Wike closed his remarks with a message of encouragement for the honorees, urging them to maintain their spirit of dedication in their new roles. “On behalf of the FCT, we express our heartfelt gratitude. You have done well, and we trust you will continue to serve with the same commitment and zeal in your new capacities,” he said.

The dinner was attended by top government officials, security chiefs, and other dignitaries, who all applauded the efforts of the honorees in making the FCT a safer place.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has praised two high-ranking security officers for their significant contributions to enhancing security in the FCT.
