The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has asserted that no member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can label him as an “outsider” or a “mole” for alleged anti-party activities. In an interview with Channels Television on Friday, Wike revealed that members of the PDP had written to President Bola Tinubu, nominating individuals for appointments.<\/p>\n
Wike challenged PDP leaders, governors, and members to publicly defend their claims about his opposition to the party\u2019s interests on national television. He stated, “There is nobody, no governor today in PDP, not anybody born of a woman can say I am an outsider. I dare anybody in the PDP to come out on national television. I dare any governor, I dare any national working committee member to come out on national television to say I am a mole.”<\/p>\n
The FCT minister also mentioned that he had formally communicated with the PDP before accepting his appointment. He wrote to the PDP at the national, zonal, and state levels, and his governor also endorsed the appointment. Wike questioned the integrity of those accusing him, pointing out that many in the PDP had themselves nominated people for appointments under President Tinubu.<\/p>\n
Wike defended his support for Tinubu in the 2023 elections, emphasizing that it was based on principles of justice and fairness. He noted that despite his support for the president, the PDP won the governorship and national assembly elections in Rivers state. “In 2023, did I not say I won\u2019t support you for president? Did I do it at the back? Did I not say I won\u2019t support this? It\u2019s not fair, it\u2019s against equity, it\u2019s against justice,” Wike remarked. He challenged critics to show if they had achieved similar electoral success in their respective states.<\/p>\n
President Tinubu appointed Wike as the Minister of the FCT in August 2023. By June 2024, Tinubu had publicly praised Wike, stating that he was one of the best appointments made in his administration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
