Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has announced plans to establish a world-class cancer treatment centre in the state.<\/p>\n
Aiyedatiwa made this disclosure through the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Awolowo Banji Ajaka, and Special Adviser on Health, Prof. Simi Odimayo, in Akure.<\/p>\n
The governor noted that cancer has become a prevalent and severe disease, requiring urgent treatment. He promised to establish the centre soon, citing the challenges patients face in accessing treatment in Lagos.<\/p>\n
The proposed centre aims to alleviate the stress of accessing cancer treatment in the state.<\/p>\n
Aiyedatiwa also highlighted the successes of the Abiyamo Maternal and Child Health Insurance Scheme (AMCHIS), launched by former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in 2022.<\/p>\n
The scheme provides healthcare coverage to pregnant women and children under five, recording over 46,741 beneficiaries and 4,265 successful deliveries.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Aiyedatiwa mentioned the Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, established to ensure Universal Health Coverage for citizens, with 56,700 enrollees across 203 wards in 18 local government areas.<\/p>\n
