Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced that his state will be the first to implement the new N70,000 minimum wage.<\/p>\n
Yusuf made this declaration at a workshop organized by the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies in Kaduna, attended by the Kano State Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and its affiliates.<\/p>\n
Represented by Head of Civil Service Abdullahi Musa, the governor reaffirmed the state’s commitment to implementing the new minimum wage.<\/p>\n
Yusuf had previously inaugurated an advisory committee on August 2024 to facilitate the implementation process.<\/p>\n
The committee is currently in Kaduna for a retreat to finalize the implementation plan, aiming to submit its report to the governor by next week.<\/p>\n
The governor praised the harmonious relationship between Kano State workers and the government.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, MINILS Director-General Comrade Issa Aremu emphasized the importance of constructive negotiation between workers and the government.<\/p>\n
Kaduna State Controller of Labour Isah Bello Dambazau urged participants to remain united and share experiences to navigate workplace complexities.<\/p>\n
