Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has said Super Eagles interim coach Austin Eguavoen did a good job in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers he handled.<\/p>\n
Eguavoen took up the Super Eagles coaching job after German-born Bruno Labaddia turned down the role.
\nIn the two games he took charge of, the Eagles recorded a 3-0 win against Benin Republic on matchday 1 and held Rwanda to a 0-0 draw on matchday 2 in Kigali.<\/p>\n
The results saw the three-time AFCON champions, on four points, top Group D.
\nReflecting on how the Eagles fared in the two AFCON qualifiers, Udeze said he would not have a problem if the NFF decide to allow Eguavoen continue.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me Eguavoen did a good job, one win and one draw, not a bad one,\u201d Udeze said on Brila FM. \u201cIf the NFF decided to leave him I wouldn\u2019t have any issue with that.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was improvement in both games the Super Eagles played, they were able to create scoring chances, played as a team. We hope to see more improvement.\u201c
\nThe Eagles will be back in the AFCON qualifiers in October when they will face Libya in back-to-back games.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Eguavoen has denied stepping down as the interim coach of the Eagles.
\nAfter the game against Rwanda, there were reports that the NFF technical director had left the Eagles job.<\/p>\n
However, Eguavoen has denied the reports, saying he was misquoted.<\/p>\n
