The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the government to raise the student loan upkeep from N20,000 to N40,000 to alleviate the financial burden on students amid rising educational costs.<\/p>\n
NANS Senate President, Akinteye Babatunde, emphasized that while the removal of fuel subsidies aims to benefit the nation, it is crucial to approach the issue with caution and strategy, considering the hardship faced by Nigerians, especially students.<\/p>\n
Babatunde stressed that NANS opposes protest actions, opting for constructive engagement with the government and stakeholders to address grievances.<\/p>\n
He demanded visible benefits for Nigerians amid the current hardship and called for the dismissal of non-performing ministers.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Babatunde advocated for reduced government spending, emphasizing that those in power must lead by example.<\/p>\n
To address these concerns, NANS will constitute a 10-man committee to engage with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, and the Federal Government.<\/p>\n
The association seeks constructive solutions to reduce fuel prices and address challenges facing students.<\/p>\n
