Victor Osimhen has backed Atalanta star Ademola Lookman to succeed him as Africa\u2019s best player.<\/p>\n
Osimhen won the award last year following an impressive campaign with Serie A club Napoli.
\nHis international teammate Lookman is a major contender to scoop the award this time around.<\/p>\n
The 26-year-old impressed at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d\u2019Ivoire and made a big impact in Atalanta\u2019s UEFA Europa League success.
\nThe winger scored three goals in seven appearances for the Super Eagles in Cote d\u2019Ivoire.<\/p>\n
He also scored a historic hat-trick for Atalanta in the final of the UEFA Europa League.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo see Ademola in this kind os situation, I am really happy for him because I know few of his stories and also in terms of football he deserves every good thing that comes his way because he\u2019s also a very good guy,\u201d Osimhen told Counter Attack Podcast.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a passionate guy, he does his job diligently. I\u2019m really happy for him but of course we all know he\u2019s going to win the African Player of the Year. One hundred percent for sure, he will win it.<\/p>\n
