The Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, has announced his resignation from his role as spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, citing pressing family health concerns. Ngelale disclosed that the decision to step down was made to allow him to focus fully on urgent medical matters involving his nuclear family.<\/p>\n
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, Ngelale explained that he had formally notified the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, of his intention to take an indefinite leave of absence.<\/p>\n
The statement reads, \u201cOn Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President informing my office that I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to frontally deal with medical matters presently affecting my immediate, nuclear family.”<\/p>\n
Ngelale expressed the difficulty of making such a decision, acknowledging the critical role he holds in the administration but emphasizing the need to prioritize his family\u2019s well-being.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonizing decision \u2014 entailing a pause of my functions as the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and Official Spokesperson of the President; Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen \u2014 was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home,” Ngelale said.<\/p>\n
He also expressed hope for returning to his duties when the situation improves, stating, “I look forward to returning to full-time national service when time, healing, and fate permit. I respectfully ask for some privacy for my family and I during this time.”<\/p>\n
Ngelale’s resignation comes at a critical juncture for the Tinubu administration, as his position played a central role in communicating the President\u2019s policies and decisions to the public.
