As the Olympic Games Paris 2024 comes to a close, YouTube has released some staggering statistics that highlight just how engaged viewers were during the event.<\/p>\n
YouTube partnered with major broadcasters like NBCUniversal, Eurosport, Claro Sports, and Caz\u00e9TV to deliver a comprehensive viewing experience, offering thousands of hours of Olympic content, including live events, highlights, and replays across 32 different sports.<\/p>\n
The response was overwhelming. During the Paris 2024 Olympics, YouTube viewers collectively spent over 40 billion minutes watching Olympic content, equating to more than 650 million hours of viewing. To put that into perspective, 40 billion minutes is roughly equivalent to 76,000 years of continuous watching or the time it would take to view over 49 million feature-length films back-to-back.<\/p>\n
This massive viewership was spread across both the official Olympics YouTube channel and the channels of official broadcasters, resulting in over 12 billion views. Additionally, more than 850 million unique viewers tuned in, with the Official Olympics YouTube Channel alone gaining over 1.1 million new subscribers during the Games.<\/p>\n
A significant portion of this viewing occurred on connected TVs, with more than 18 billion minutes watched on these devices, accounting for over 35% of the total watch time. Over 180 million unique viewers streamed Olympic content on their TVs, contributing to 1.9 billion views from living rooms around the world.<\/p>\n
In addition to the traditional coverage, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and official broadcasters brought more than 30 prominent YouTube creators to Paris. Influencers like Rick Azas from Eurosport, Liza Baez from Claro Sports, and others including Sydney Morgan, Ian Boggs, and RJ Karishma provided fans with unique perspectives on the Games, enhancing the overall viewing experience.<\/p>\n
