The police in Edo have detained a 19-year-old native doctor, Timothy Dauda, for allegedly shooting his client, Alex Ezekiel, to death during an \u201canti-bullet\u201d charm trial.<\/p>\n
The command\u2019s public relations officer, SP Moses Yamu, told journalists on Monday that the incident happened on August 20 in the Onumu community, near Igara, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n
He said operatives from the Igarra Divisional Police Station in Akoko-Edo arrested the suspect.<\/p>\n
It was gathered that the suspect allegedly claimed to specialise in preparing charms against gunshots and machete cuts.<\/p>\n
A source further told journalists that the deceased had visited the native doctor\u2019s home to obtain the charm.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn a shocking turn of events\u201d, Mr Dauda attempted to test the efficacy of the charm by shooting the client with a gun, the source said.<\/p>\n
The charm was said to have failed as he sustained fatal injuries.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen he was rushed to a hospital in Igarra, he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor,\u201d the source further said.<\/p>\n
