This partnership is particularly timely as the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has set a hard deadline of September 14, 2024, for linking Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs) to National Identity Numbers. With over 153 million SIMs already linked\u2014reflecting a compliance rate of 96%, up from 69.7% earlier in the year\u2014this initiative is poised to drive further improvements in national compliance.<\/p>\n
In a statement released, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director-General of NIMC, emphasized that this collaboration highlights the dedication of both organizations to advancing President Bola Tinubu\u2019s vision of enhancing digital identity and birth registration systems in Nigeria. The focus of the partnership is on accelerating both birth registration and NIN issuance to ensure that every Nigerian, particularly those under 16, can access crucial government services and benefits.<\/p>\n
