The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has issued a stern warning to Corps Members against traveling at night, emphasizing that such actions are prohibited under NYSC regulations. He also stated that any unauthorized journeys would result in sanctions in accordance with NYSC laws.<\/p>\n

General Ahmed advised that if Corps Members must travel for essential reasons, they should ensure to halt their journey by 6:00 pm and continue the next day. He provided this caution while addressing the 2024 Batch \u2018B\u2019 Stream Two Corps Members and camp officials at the NYSC FCT Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja.<\/p>\n

He stressed the importance of safety, urging Corps Members to seek refuge in safe places like military barracks, police stations, or Corps Lodges if they find themselves on the road after 6:00 pm. Additionally, the DG called on Corps Members to remain disciplined, security-conscious, and to strictly adhere to NYSC Byelaws throughout their service year.<\/p>\n

During the event, the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmood, reaffirmed the FCT administration’s ongoing support for the NYSC. Represented by Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, the Mandate Secretary of the Youth Development Secretariat, the Minister encouraged Corps Members to act as good ambassadors and to take advantage of the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program for self-employment opportunities.<\/p>\n

The NYSC FCT Coordinator, Mrs. Winifred Shopeka, reported that 2,557 Corps Members (1,098 males and 1,459 females) were registered for the program. She commended the Corps Members for adjusting to camp life and emphasized the need for discipline, warning against negative behaviors such as drug abuse.<\/p>\n
