{"id":46305,"date":"2024-08-30T09:52:41","date_gmt":"2024-08-30T09:52:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=46305"},"modified":"2024-08-30T09:52:41","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T09:52:41","slug":"fire-guts-3-storey-building-at-lagos-govt-staff-quarters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/08\/30\/fire-guts-3-storey-building-at-lagos-govt-staff-quarters\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire Guts 3-storey Building at Lagos Govt Staff Quarters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fire has gutted part of a three-storey building at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters in Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road, Ogba.<\/p>\n<p>Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed this in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Oke-Osanyintolu said LASEMA received distress calls through the 767 and 112 toll-free emergency lines at about 2:39 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>He said the agency activated its response team from the command and control centre, Alausa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon immediate response, it was confirmed that one of the two-bedrooms in Flat 5 of Block 21, a two-winged, three-story building of 16 two-bedroom flats, was engulfed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigation conducted by the agency\u2019s response team revealed that the fire originated from the children\u2019s room as result of power surge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe prompt and coordinated efforts of the agency, Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, ensured the fire was contained,\u201d Mr Oke-Osanyintolu said.<\/p>\n<p>He said there was no injury or life lost.<\/p>\n<p>However, the fire razed the children\u2019s bedroom, losing properties worth millions of naira, Mr Oke-Osanyintolu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also enlightened the occupants on the proper use of electrical appliances,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fire has gutted part of a three-storey building at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters in Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road, Ogba.
