Alan Fisher, an Irish chef and restaurant owner based in Japan, has achieved a remarkable culinary feat by setting two Guinness World Records related to cooking marathons.<\/p>\n
First, Alan secured the title for the longest cooking marathon (individual) with a staggering time of 119 hours and 57 minutes. This impressive achievement surpasses the previous record, held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, by over 24 hours.<\/p>\n
Not stopping there, Alan also claimed the title for the longest baking marathon (individual) with an extraordinary time of 47 hours and 21 minutes. The previous record holder, Wendy Sandner from the USA, had a time of 31 hours and 16 minutes.<\/p>\n
What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is that Alan took on both record attempts consecutively, subjecting himself to a total of over 160 hours of continuous kitchen work, with just over a day of rest in between.<\/p>\n
Alan’s journey to becoming a celebrated chef in Japan had its roots in a desire for a new challenge. In 2008, the year he graduated from Dublin City University, he embarked on an overseas graduate program that introduced Irish graduates to companies in Asia. Through this program, he received a job offer at a company in Tokyo.<\/p>\n
Over the next six years, Alan not only established himself in Tokyo but also met his future wife, who would become his business partner. However, despite his success, he felt that something was amiss. Alan recalled, “After the wedding, saying goodbye to 30 friends and family who came over, I remember a feeling of being trapped, thinking to myself, ‘Is this it?
