Due to the alleged bullying of a seven-year-old student, the Anambra State Government announced that it has ordered the immediate closure of Upcoming Star International School in Awka.<\/p>\n
This was revealed in a statement made late on Tuesday by the state’s commissioner of education, prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh. She also stated that the state government took action in response to a report claiming the student’s classmate had broken her leg.<\/p>\n
Chuma-Udeh claimed that upon inviting the owner of the school to be questioned, it was found that the institution did not even have the necessary permits to function.<\/p>\n
She claimed that the student’s damaged leg resulted from bullying by a classmate.<\/p>\n
She said, \u201cThe pupil was bullied by her classmate, which caused her to break her leg, and the matter was reported to the ministry.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe school proprietor, Uche Onyeachona, was invited for questioning and he admitted that the offense was committed in his school.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was also discovered that the school was not approved by the state government.<\/p>\n
However, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the state governor, ordered that the school be closed by 2:00 PM today.<\/p>\n
“This is because children in the state have been suffering greatly as a result of these illegal schools’ continuous existence.”<\/p>\n
However, the commissioner pleaded with parents not to enroll their wards or children in unauthorized schools.<\/p>\n
