In a meeting with the BBC\u2019s top management, led by Jonathan Munro, Deputy CEO of BBC News and Director of the BBC World Service, Idris advocated for balanced reporting on Nigeria, urging the BBC to emphasize the country’s progress and successes. He noted that Nigeria\u2019s vibrant youth population, despite facing significant challenges, is eager to seize positive opportunities\u2014a narrative that warrants greater focus in media coverage.<\/p>\n

Idris also addressed the growing threat of misinformation and fake news, which he described as a major obstacle to progress and a factor eroding trust between governments and citizens. He called on the BBC to strengthen its mechanisms for combating these issues and to collaborate with international partners to maintain credible and responsible media ecosystems.<\/p>\n
