The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has inaugurated a 12-member Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) within the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). This initiative, launched at the Revenue House in Abuja, aims to reinforce transparency and accountability in tax collection processes.<\/p>\n

The FIRS Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Koleosho, emphasized the importance of integrity among the unit members, stating, \u201cHe who comes to equity must come with clean hands.\u201d He urged the unit to embody the agency\u2019s core values of integrity and transparency.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The unit will work closely with anti-graft agencies, including the ICPC, and is tasked with preventing corrupt practices within FIRS. The ACTU’s responsibilities include sensitizing staff on the dangers of corruption, examining procedures prone to corruption, developing and ensuring compliance with a code of ethics, and conducting preliminary investigations into complaints.<\/p>\n

ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, represented by Mr. Olusegun Adigun, assured that the FIRS ACTU members would receive the necessary support to fulfill their mandate, highlighting the unit’s role in building a reputable agency.<\/p>\n
