The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of 97 members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, in connection with a violent clash in Abuja. The confrontation on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two policemen and left three others seriously injured. During the clash, the Shiite group also set three police patrol vehicles ablaze.<\/p>\n
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the arrests were made possible through credible intelligence reports. The detained suspects are currently awaiting prosecution.<\/p>\n
Inspector-General of Police (I-G) Kayode Egbetokun has vowed to bring all those involved in the attack to justice, stressing that the police will resist any form of anarchy or unrest in the country. He expressed his outrage over the unprovoked killings of police officers and emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order nationwide.<\/p>\n
