The Nigeria Police Force has officially cleared Tingo Foods, Tingo Mobile Plc, and their founder, Mr. Dozy Mmobuosi, of any involvement in alleged fraudulent activities, including the diversion of funds and misrepresentation of financial reports. The police’s findings reveal no evidence linking the company or its founder to the alleged crimes.<\/p>\n
This exoneration was communicated in a Legal Advice addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbedokun, by the Commissioner of Police, Legal\/Prosecution at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), located at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The investigation was initially sparked by a petition from Mr. Olayide Ayoola, the acting managing director of Tingo, who accused two individuals, Stephen Okafor and Rose Ifedi, of fraudulent activities that allegedly harmed the company’s financial integrity.<\/p>\n
According to the police report, the investigation revealed that Okafor and Ifedi, who are now at large, were the actual perpetrators behind the diversion of company funds and revenues. These activities were conducted using third-party accounts, effectively bypassing the company’s official financial channels. However, the investigation has not yet confirmed the exact amount of money involved in these fraudulent transactions, and a forensic audit of the company’s financials has yet to be conducted.<\/p>\n
Crucially, the police investigation found no evidence to suggest that Tingo Foods, Tingo Mobile, or Mr. Mmobuosi were involved in or aware of the fraudulent activities. The Legal Advice concluded that the company and its founder were wrongfully implicated and should be fully exonerated from all allegations.<\/p>\n
This development marks a significant relief for Tingo Foods and Tingo Mobile, both of which have been under intense scrutiny since the allegations first surfaced. Mr. Mmobuosi, a prominent entrepreneur known for his contributions to Nigeria’s tech and agricultural sectors, had faced considerable reputational damage due to the accusations.<\/p>\n
