The All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups have reached out to the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) with a heartfelt plea to reconsider their proposed nationwide strike.<\/p>\n
Kailani Muhammed, the group’s Director-General, issued this appeal in a statement released in Abuja on Monday. He emphasized the potential adverse consequences that such a strike might have on Nigeria’s economy and its socio-democratic processes.<\/p>\n
In his statement, Muhammed conveyed their appeal: “We are using this platform to earnestly request the Nigerian Labour Congress, the umbrella organization of Nigerian workers, to set aside its planned strike in response to the physical assault on the NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo State.”<\/p>\n
He continued, “We firmly believe that the NLC is fully aware of the far-reaching repercussions of the planned strike, more so than anyone else.”<\/p>\n
The director-general underscored that the implications of the strike could be catastrophic for the nation. It has the potential to disrupt and hinder the Nigerian economy, resulting in unnecessary chaos due to the cessation of all economic activities in the country.<\/p>\n
Muhammed also expressed concern for the common citizens whom the NLC strives to protect. He explained, “The average person on the street will bear the brunt of the strike’s aftermath. The already high cost of goods and services will surge to unprecedented levels, and, as we know, prices in Nigeria rarely decrease once they go up.”<\/p>\n
Consequently, the APC Support Groups made their appeal as concerned citizens and devoted democrats, with a primary focus on the welfare of the Nigerian nation.
