The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Damagum, has firmly asserted that he will not be pressured into stepping down from his position, despite ongoing internal disputes within the party.<\/p>\n
The PDP has been grappling with internal conflicts that have intensified both before and after the 2023 elections. Damagum has been at the center of these disputes, with many party members blaming him for contributing to the ongoing crisis. However, the party chairman remains unfazed by the criticisms directed at him.<\/p>\n
Addressing these concerns during the inauguration of the National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees, chaired by Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Tom Ikimi respectively, Damagum expressed his frustration with those who spread misinformation about the operations of the National Working Committee (NWC). He pointed out that much of the criticism comes from individuals who lack a proper understanding of the NWC’s functions and decisions.<\/p>\n
“Let me send a message to everyone talking about Damagum this, Damagum that \u2013 I cannot be intimidated. The more you mention me, the more popular I become,” Damagum declared with confidence. He emphasized that the increasing attention on him only serves to bolster his reputation and influence within the party.<\/p>\n
