Veteran Nigerian singer Alexander Akande, popularly known as 9ice, has disclosed that he drew inspiration from Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean in the early stages of his career. In a recent interview with SPS, 9ice admitted to emulating Wyclef’s sound, but clarified that he wasn’t the only Nigerian artist to do so.<\/p>\n
“I was sounding like Wyclef Jean 100 percent at the beginning,” 9ice explained. “While others were also inspired by him, I was considered the best at replicating his style.”<\/p>\n
