The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed concern over the increasing number of young Nigerian graduates migrating abroad in search of better opportunities, a trend popularly referred to as “japa.” Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, George Mfongang, described the migration rate as “alarming” and urged leaders and citizens to work towards improving Nigeria’s potential.<\/p>\n
Mfongang made the comments during a visit from NAPTIP Rivers Commander, Nwamaka Ikediashi, who sought collaboration to sensitize corps members about the dangers of illegal migration. Ikediashi warned against fake agencies and agents who deceive young graduates with promises of good jobs and better lives abroad, only to face exploitation, prostitution, drug trafficking, forced labor, and organ harvesting.<\/p>\n
The NYSC Coordinator directed NAPTIP to channel their request to NYSC headquarters and assured that corps members in Rivers would benefit from the sensitization.
